Does this surprise you, being a jewish persons blog, Does this upset you, does this even bother you. The sad part of this is most people are happy with this. Now if this does upset or bother you it means one of two things either you know what I"m talking about or your prejudiced against them, now prejudice is normally we consider a bad thing, but the reason you most likely here KKK and go thats bad is because not only do they have a history of being an incredibly prejudiced group, striving for straight white christian supperiority, but they are also in existance for this one sole reason.
Therefore those people who are opposed to that concept should be opposed to them. I used to think this was a very high percentage of people, and only a few old time thinking ignorant people were left, I knew it some states this was more prevalent, but not in my beloved Texas, where apparently we still believe in part of the straight white christian supremacy.
This win of the KKK has to do with yesterdays' vote and the second proposition, for those who don't know me I'm in a city near Austin and so when they KKK rallied for pro prop 2 my friends went to collect people to counter rally.
Q) SO WHAT IS PROP 2?
A) prop 2 was a proposition to make an amendment to the Texas Constitution to outlaw homosexual marriage and only allow marriage between a man and a woman.
Ok now from what I heard the vote was 3:1 and now I'm not frustrated at Republicans or Democrats because what anyone might tell you this was not a Rep vs. Dem vote this was a
civil rights vs. bigotry
well ok we are taking rights away from the homosexual community for what reason so far I've heard three and I will refute all of them
1) Well the bible says. . .
1) OK a few problems a) seperation of church and state
b) your bible is not everyones don't do it if you don't think its right but there not forcing you to
c) the word people decided the translation of the sin was an "abomination", whcih was the same word for not keeping kosher
d) some arguements have also said that with the way it's worded it means it is only an "abomination" when it is done as adultry.
e) this isn't saying you have to be gay but that you can be
2) Well then your not producing offspring
2) I like biology a) what about sterile people, no offspring from them either
b) what about people who are born hermaphrodites there not man or woman
c) the world is supposed to reach its limit on human population in the friendliest estimates say 80 years or so. . . the less people producing offspring the more food water luxury items etc. are available to those who are not millionaires. That also allows us to last longer before hitting that time when we will be competing for resources like squirrels rats and every other organism on earth.
3) It's wrong
3)what makes it wrong a) the only reasons it's wrong is either the fact that their the minority
what if we were the minority and straight wasn't allowed
b) it's not achieving anything (offspring) see above
and to argue the constitution doesn't say two men, or two women,
it is not perfect the creators new that and allowed ammendments, the Bill of Rights are the first ammendments because it was imperfect. If we wanted to prove we were not sexist and sexualist then we would use a new term that had no difference between a man and a woman, so that they were considered in the exact same light. meaning marriage between a man and a woman would be between a person and a person.
oh and I decided I"m doomed to be wrong more than anyone else but that doesn't really compare in importance to the rest of this post so
quote of the day:
"That's where the victory was won, from the pulpits of the state of Texas," said state Rep. Warren Chisum, a Pampa Republican who wrote the amendment. "The people of Texas have spoken and they intend that marriage should be between one man and one woman."
Matt Foreman, executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, said the outcome was not unexpected.
"When you put a fundamental right of a minority up for popular vote, it's almost impossible to win," said Foreman. "I'm not sure the right to desegregate schools, the freedom to marry another race or even access to contraception in many states would exist if those issues were put up for a vote."
